Movieline's Week in Review: Carrying a Torch

Leader image for Movieline's Week in Review: Carrying a Torch

The holidays are punishing enough without having to contend with that one person you just can’t get out of your head no matter how hard you try — but enough about Andy Samberg and his blowtorch. In fact, the week at Movieline was full of such emotional luminaries, gathered conveniently here in your Week in Review. Please do drop by tomorrow and Sunday for the calming binary-code stylings of Dixon Gaines, and enjoy your weekend!

· If a five-part Jesse Eisenberg interview wasn’t enough Social Network for you, then how about some two-part Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield action? Maybe a new installment of Oscar Index?

· We contemplated The Walking Dead vs. Lost, Glee vs. Community, and A Charlie Brown Christmas vs. … well, really, nobody comes close.

· RIP Elaine Kaufman, death threatener extraordinaire.

· Recaps! We got recaps, including the Boardwalk Empire season finale, 30 Rock, Modern Family, Glee, Community, Fringe, Mike and Molly, Gossip Girl, and Sarah Palin’s Barely Sentient Goddamned Alaskan Caribou Hunt Alaska.

· Amber Heard came out of the closet. A while ago, of course, but everyone finally caught up.

· We kept score of Robert De Niro’s latest SNL hosting appearance; much polling ensued. Andy Samberg’s blowtorch stunt narrowly avoided disqualification.

· Sometimes you just have to have a Funky Bunch flashback. I’m just saying.

· The end of the year made for some adventuresome best-of lists, with many more to come… stay tuned!
