Check Out These Christmas Movie Parody Posters To Keep Away The Holiday Blues

If you’re like me and Shakespeare, you think that there’s nothing funnier than a good pun (this would be the only overlap in the Venn diagram of me and Shakespeare, btw). And the boozy funsters over at Rejecting Sobriety have decided to celebrate the 25 days of Christmas by posting a new punny movie poster parody each day until Christmas day itself. Check out my two favorites after the jump and hit Rejecting Sobriety up to see what pops up next. Personally, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for A Fish Called Kwanzaa. [RS]

'F*cking Trees, Man': Mark Wahlberg Admits What A Horrible Movie The Happening Was

Leader image for 'F*cking Trees, Man': Mark Wahlberg Admits What A Horrible Movie The Happening Was

Most actors are loath to talk about their crappy past movies. They usually elide around the subject, speaking in delicate, neutral tones. But in the press conference for his upcoming film The Fighter, Mark Wahlberg appropriately pulled no punches and confessed what we all already knew: The Happening was just a terrible movie.

Asked to talk about his co-star Amy Adams, Wahlberg revealed that they almost did a previous movie together and that’s when the truth started tumbling out:

I was such a huge fan of [Amy Adams]. We’d actually had the luxury of having lunch before to talk about another movie, and it was a bad movie that I did. She dodged the bullet. I don’t want to tell you what movie… All right, The Happening with M. Night Shyamalan. It is was it is. F*cking trees, man, the plants. F*ck it. You can’t blame me for wanting to try to play a science teacher. You know? I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook.

F*cking trees, indeed. The conference predictably burst into laughter, with by far the biggest laughs coming from director David O. Russell and co-stars Adams and Christian Bale, who all know a little something about crappy misfires.

But congratulations to Mark Wahlberg for speaking truth to power. Between this and Shia LaBeouf admitting what a stinker Indiana Jones 4 was, we may have an epidemic of truth telling in Hollywood. C’mon Russell Crowe! Admit what a colossal bore Robin Hood was! You have nothing to lose but your chains!

The First Movie About the Rescued Chilean Miners Has Arrived

trapped_chilean_miners_.jpgWow. We all knew that a film about the rescue of the trapped Chilean miners was totally inevitable, but who would have guessed it would take even less time than the rescue itself? Antonio Recio’s The 33 of San Jose started shooting five days after the Miners’ rescue and is currently being sold at the American Film Market. According to Recio, he and writers J J Barrios and Jacobo Bergareche began penning the script just days after news of the miners’ plight broke.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s ultra-happy ending features “extensive news footage obtained via an exclusive deal struck between backers Spanish broadcaster Antenna 3 and Chilean channel 13, who helped gather much of the footage watched by the world.” The film’s cast includes 32 Chilean actors and Bolivian star Cristian Mercado (Che: Part 2, Undertow).

Remembering the fact that 33 characters are involved begs the question of how they chose which miners get the screen time. And how many of these actors just stand in the background decked out in mining gear? Or will this movie be eight hours long? Apparently, sales agent America Video Films is in conversations with “a major studio” to take theatrical rights to the film, so maybe we’ll find out soon.

In any case, Hollywood had better start moving a little faster on their inevitable big-budget version. If they’re having trouble figuring out who should direct, we’ve got that covered.
