Preview: Cake Boss Dares to Bore Snooki

snookicake225.jpg· TLC’s Cake Boss (which is different than the Food Network’s Ace of Cakes and Cupcake Wars, the PAX network’s Cakes Be to God, and Logo’s One of These Drag Queens is Actually a Cake) invites a special guest to the show tonight: Jersey Shore’s Snooki. She doesn’t seem thrilled about it judging by the way she languidly explains GTL to Buddy Valastro. Maybe there’s a frosted hair/frosting metaphor these two can agree on? [Zap2It]

· The 30 Rock soundtrack will feature a lovely composition from Christopher Cross entitled “Lemon’s Theme.” Take that, Nadia Comaneci. [Gawker]

· I loved when Hugh Jackman hosted the Oscars in ‘09. Unfortunately it seems he’s been scared off from the telecast for awhile. [NextMovie]

· Conan O’Brien’s five new reasons to watch his show are hilarious and Richter-deprecating. [ONTD]

· Crystal Bowersox’s debut album cover is so old-school Loretta Lynn that you might call her “Coal Miner’s Great-Granddaughter.” Or you can just use the album’s title itself, “Farmer’s Daughter.” [Zap2It]

Kung Fu Panda 2 Teaser Dares You to Flinch

In case you didn’t get enough jokes about Jack Black’s gut last week in the Gulliver’s Travels trailer, The Kung Fu Panda 2 teaser has one more! Score! Besides that it gives a glimpse of…not very much at all. In fact the rest of the teaser will remind you how long thirty seconds can really feel.

In a slightly bold move, the trailer draws out a “Kung Fu staring contest” with the audience a good ten seconds past the end of the joke. It felt long enough that I wondered if whoever cut this trailer had just watched Jean Luc-Godard’s Band of Outsiders (see clip below). Maybe this gag is a subtle attempt to weigh in on the whole Godard Oscar controversy? Or perhaps it signals an even more sophisticated and avant garde sequel to the clever original? Or I suppose, maybe it’s just a total coincidence…Yeah okay, it’s probably that. Anyway, the trailer is below — have at it.

Verdict: I lost that staring contest.
